Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can you ship this to Canada?
A: Yes. Cross-border freight is quoted case by case rather than sold at a flat rate, so no shipping option will appear at checkout for a Canadian address. Contact us with your delivery address and we will price the freight for you before you order.
Q: I want to order several units — why is there no shipping option?
A: Automatic freight rates cover loads up to 1,200 lbs, which is three units. For four or more, contact us with your address and quantity and we will quote the freight directly.
Q: How hard is this to install in my garage?
A: Installation is similar to adding an outlet for a dryer or electric car charger. Most electricians can wire it in easily, and the unit comes ready for a standard 30AMP connection.
Q: What’s the sterilization process for grain bags?
A: Add 4–4.5 gallons of filtered or RO water, load the grain bags in stacks, tighten the clamps, and start the cycle. For a full load, we recommend 121°C for 3-3.5 hours.
Q: How long does a cycle take from start to finish?
A: Most cycles take about 4–4.5 hours total, including heat-up and cooldown. You can use natural cooling for a longer cool-down period or computerized slow venting for faster turnaround.
Q: How much can I sterilize at once?
A: This unit can handle up to 48 × 3 lb grain bags, 24 × 5 lb substrate bags, or 12 × 10 lb substrate bags per cycle.
Q: What do replacement parts cost?
A:
- Silicone Gasket: $60
- Heating Element: $249
- Temperature Sensor: $99
- Control Boards (Call to order)
Q: Why buy from us?
A: Many competing units ship from overseas with long lead times. We stock our autoclaves in the U.S. for faster delivery, provide in-house technical support, and work with the factory on performance upgrades that improve real-world results for mushroom growers.
